Gabon: Clean Africa Launches Youth Engagement Initiative on Waste Recycling. LIBREVILLE, Gabon — 18 March 2026 (AGP) – Clean Africa, a leading waste management company in Gabon, hosted a day of open doors at its Mindoumbé 1 facility to educate young people about waste sorting, recycling, and resource valorization. Officials commented on the matter.
According to the Gabonese Press Agency, the participants engaged in demonstrations, observed operational machinery, and followed the various stages of waste transformation into reusable materials. Anémone Ntoma Mengome, the company’s General Manager, emphasized the shift from viewing waste as a burden to seeing it as a resource. “Every day, tons of materials can be valorized.
Our mission is to give them a second life, “she added, highlighting the role of the circular economy in job creation. Despite ongoing awareness campaigns, home sorting remains insufficient. Omolo Eddy Gäel, the head of the waste treatment service, explained that agents often have to search through bins for recyclable items.
Since 2023, Clean Africa has conducted campaigns in schools to encourage responsible practices.
The company hopes that by 2040, a generation trained in sorting will contribute to reducing the environmental impact of waste.
The event also showcased creative reuse initiatives, such as those by Gabonese artist Eddy Heindrickx Mayougami, who transforms used cardboard, plastics, and paper into decorative objects.
Clean Africa reminded citizens that proper waste management is a major concern for local governments and called for the adoption of responsible practices to improve living conditions. Further details are expected as Clean Africa continues its efforts to promote sustainable waste management practices among the youth and the wider population.
