Tshwane committee member suspended over Madlanga claims. Pretoria, South Africa — A member of Tshwane’s mayoral committee has been relieved of duties while authorities examine claims linked to the Madlanga Commission, local reports said on Thursday.
According to local reports, the suspension centres on allegations that city tenders were manipulated, an issue the commission was set up to probe.
Leaders of the ANC, EFF and ActionSA have been named in the matter; officials have not released further names.
The city placed the official on leave effective immediately.
A short statement from the municipality said the step is precautionary and does not signal a finding of wrongdoing.
“The investigation must run its course,” regional officials confirmed, adding that city services will continue without disruption.
The interim committee structure will handle the vacant portfolio until a decision is reached. It remains unclear how long the probe will take.
Further details were not immediately available.
