[Agadir, Morocco — April 18, 2026] The Moroccan government is set to embark on a digital transformation of its foreign trade operations with the imminent launch of a comprehensive Foreign Trade Procedures Portal. This innovative platform, scheduled to go live in May, aims to enhance national competitiveness and expedite the trade process across various sectors.
In a meeting convened on Friday, Secretary of State to the Minister of Industry and Trade, Omar Hejira, outlined the government’s commitment to digitalization.
The event, attended by public and private sector representatives, including the Moroccan Confederation of Exporters (ASMEX) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), underscored the collaborative effort to integrate digital tools into foreign trade procedures. Hejira emphasized the strategic importance of digitalization, stating, “Without it, accessing global markets becomes extremely difficult. Digitalization is no longer optional; it is essential.”.
The new portal will facilitate online procedures for import licensing, inspection processes, customs integration, electronic payments, and advance cargo declarations, ensuring seamless coordination across all Moroccan ports and airports.
The portal’s launch is expected to bring about a range of benefits, including reduced delays and improved efficiency. It is part of a broader strategy to create a fully integrated national single-window system, which will serve as a singular entry point for all foreign trade procedures. Parallel to the portal, Morocco has been leveraging the “Tijaria “platform, an artificial intelligence-driven tool that has already facilitated trade-related information access for over 875 users, including both importers and exporters.
As Morocco prepares to digitize over 120 services and interconnect more than 50 public and private institutions, the nation hopes to solidify its position as a key player in the international market.
The government’s optimism is grounded in the belief that this digital revolution will not only bolster its economic growth but also make it an attractive destination for foreign investment.
In conclusion, the Foreign Trade Procedures Portal represents a significant leap forward for Morocco, one that aligns with the country’s strategic objectives of economic development and global integration.
