The LTC Sudan Working Group gathered on 30 March 2026 to deliberate on the pressing issue of emergency telecommunications in Sudan. The meeting, which involved participants from the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) and the World Food Programme (WFP), aimed to address the current state of telecommunications infrastructure amidst ongoing security concerns. The group acknowledged both the achievements and the persisting challenges in maintaining these networks, emphasizing the need for enhanced collaboration between government, international organizations, and local entities to bolster Sudan’s telecommunications resilience.
The group also stressed the importance of engaging the private sector in the development and maintenance of Sudan’s telecommunications infrastructure. The meeting concluded with a commitment from the ETC and WFP to support Sudan’s efforts in overcoming these challenges.
