DRC: E-Kinergy Launches Solar Solutions in Kikwit. Kikwit, Democratic Republic of Congo — December 8, 2025 — E-Kinergy, a renewable energy company with over three decades of experience, has announced its expansion into Kikwit, the economic and political hub of Kwilu province in southwestern Democratic Republic of Congo. This move is poised to transform the energy landscape of Kikwit, which has long struggled with unreliable power.
The company’s introduction to the city occurred on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at an energy seminar held at the University of Kikwit (UNIKIK).
The event, supported by Rector Alphonse Kapumba, was attended by various stakeholders, including political leaders, administrative officials, and residents. Mayor Abe Ngiama welcomed E-Kinergy, emphasizing the company’s alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 7, which aims for universal access to affordable, reliable, and modern energy.
Kikwit has been addressing power shortages due to the non — operational Kakobola hydroelectric plant in Gungu territory.
The company’s arrival comes as a beacon of hope for the city’s residents, who have been living in near-perpetual darkness. Pastor Jean-Baptiste Mbana, E-Kinergy’s national representative, highlighted the project’s significance in addressing Kikwit’s challenges of darkness, unemployment, and environmental degradation.
He emphasized the importance of energy as a foundation for progress.
International Sales Manager Marchica Giovanni detailed E — Kinergy’s advanced photovoltaic panels, smart hybrid inverters, and lithium-ion batteries, which ensure energy autonomy and environmental sustainability.
The company has initiated its first phase of subscriptions and registrations, which will run until January 15, 2026.
