LIBREVILLE, Gabon — The Judo Club Cité des Ailes tournament in Gabon concluded with organizers expressing satisfaction over the record-high participation and enthusiasm. Held on April 4, 2026, in Akanda, the event saw over 700 children from 30 clubs engage in the fourth edition of the competition aimed at nurturing young judo talents.
Gerrick Moussounda, the president of the Judo Club Cité des Ailes, highlighted the success of the event. “This year, we have registered a little over 700 children for 30 clubs, “he. “The enthusiasm generated by the competition has far exceeded our set objectives.”.
The tournament featured categories for participants aged between 4 and 17 years old, with boys and girls competing separately. Moussounda emphasized the tournament’s focus on engaging young girls in judo practice, noting the importance of fostering loyalty among young women to the sport.
In addition to the competition, the event included the distribution of medals, participation certificates, and prizes to the winners of a lottery draw. The president also praised the work of the participating clubs, noting the satisfactory level of competition and the rigorous approach of certain clubs towards technical advancement.
