Gabon: UDB Deputy Fiacre Mpako Ngoma Suspended Over Tax Stance. LIBREVILLE, Gabon — 16 December 2025 (AGP) – The Union Démocratique des Bâtisseurs (UDB) has suspended its deputy, Fiacre Mpako Ngoma, from all party activities, following his public opposition to the implementation of the residential tax.
The suspension comes after Ngoma, representing the second seat of the Zadié department in Mekambo, voiced his dissent on social media, labeling the tax as “unjust and devised by enemies of the people.”.
According to regional officials, the suspension remains in effect until the party’s disciplinary council reaches a final decision. Officials commented on the matter.
In a viral post, the deputy described the tax as “a law thought up by those who have never lived the reality of the Gabonese people.”.
The UDB’s Secretary General for Elections, Mesmin Ngabikoumou Wada, issued a statement outlining the suspension.
Meanwhile, the party’s Secretary General, Mays Mouissi, publicly rebuked Ngoma.
The deputy, however, did not shy away from further commentary, responding to the party’s stance in subsequent media appearances.
The controversy surrounding the tax reflects broader debates within the Gabonese political landscape. Further details on the outcome of Ngoma’s suspension are expected as the situation develops.
