Central African Republic: Voter Cards Distributed Ahead of Upcoming Elections. Bangui, Central African Republic — The distribution of voter registration cards has commenced across the Central African Republic, as the country prepares for its general elections scheduled for December 28, 2025.
In Bangui and various cities, citizens have been actively collecting their cards from polling stations since mid — December.
In the prefecture of Bamingui — Bangoran, northern Central African Republic, local authorities executed the distribution process with technical, logistical, and security support from MINUSCA, the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the country. Jean de Dieu Ndaka Pabandji, chief rapporteur of the sub-prefectural election delegation in Ndele, emphasized the population’s eagerness to receive these cards. “
The population has long expressed a desire to have these cards.
So much so that, for the moment, yes, people are very much in favour of getting these new cards in order to wait for the upcoming elections on 28 December 2025, “Pabandji stated.
Issaka Ali, an 18-year-old first-time voter, expressed his satisfaction upon receiving his voter card in Ndele. “This is the first time I have been registered to vote; I have just received my card; everything is in order; all my information is correct, “Ali. He added, “I brought my birth certificate, they took all my details; they took my picture, and then I came back to collect my voter card.
I am going to vote, I really want to vote.”
The polls will see voters electing their president, lawmakers, as well as local and municipal leaders. This vote is seen as a potential turning point for Bangui, which has experienced decades of violence and instability, as noted by the UN envoy for Central Africa earlier this month.
Further details regarding the election process and the outcome of the upcoming polls are expected in the coming weeks.
