Gabon Celebrates Teacher’s Day with Advances for Educators. City, Country — MAKOKOU, Gabon — On the occasion of the national teacher’s day in Gabon, particularly in the Ogooué-Ivindo region, educators noted significant advancements in recognition and support for their profession, according to local reports.
According to Roland Pambo Madial, an educator, since February, there have been notable improvements.
He highlighted the transition of some volunteer teachers to pre — service training, as well as the payment of the first salaries for graduates from the National Institute of Education (ENI) and the National School of Education (ENS).
The theme of this year’s celebration was “The Valuing of the Teaching Profession: A Catalyst for the Guidance of Youth in the 5th Republic.”Janvier Obiang Mbega, an educational inspector and speaker, emphasized that the 5th Republic provides a favorable framework for the revaluation of the teaching profession through social measures implemented by high authorities in favor of educators in Gabon.
Jean Lin Essié Efé, the Provincial Director of Education in Ogooué-Ivindo, underlined the importance of the teacher as a model for society.
He stated that the formation of a teacher enables them to fulfill their duties effectively and encouraged educators to assert their rights by ensuring they have done their duties well. Further details are expected regarding future initiatives and support for teachers in the region.
