With over 500 portraits on display in Paris and the United States, the documentary allows the Congolese diaspora to reconnect with loved ones and recognize prominent figures such as the internationally renowned Congolese writer Alain Mabanckou. Maurice Pellosh passed away in 2023, just before the film’s release, but his images continue to tell the stories of his time.
Director Emmanuèle Béthery emphasizes the importance of Pellosh’s work, stating, “I didn’t choose Pellosh — Pellosh chose me.
