Agadir — Morocco marks a new era in its digital transformation with the launch of Oracle’s first public cloud region in the country, a move that cements Morocco’s position as a regional hub for AI and digital innovation. The Casablanca-based Oracle Cloud region, in collaboration with N+ONE Datacenters, is set to bolster Moroccan organizations, from startups to government agencies, with advanced AI, analytics, and cloud computing capabilities.
Cormac Watters, executive vice president and general manager for Oracle EMEA, underscored the strategic significance of this development. “Our cloud region in Casablanca represents a cornerstone in our commitment to support Morocco’s growth and its role as a regional AI and digital innovation hub, “Watters stated.
The Casablanca region addresses Morocco’s data sovereignty and compliance needs, particularly for public and governmental sectors, by offering sovereign data hosting and processing within the country. It also aligns with the Moroccan government’s Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, which aims to accelerate the nation’s digital transformation and establish it as a key technology player in the region.
Oracle’s suite of AI solutions, including the OCI AI Agent Platform, OCI Generative AI Service, and Oracle AI Data Platform, will be accessible through this new cloud region. This expansion follows Oracle’s plans to further its footprint in Africa with a second public cloud region in Settat. The company emphasizes its ability to meet a variety of requirements across the continent, including privacy, sovereign AI, and low latency, through its extensive cloud and AI service offerings.
