Cameroon: Tragic Machete Attack Leaves Douala Woman Dead. BUEA, PAV — Douala, Cameroon — A harrowing incident of domestic violence in Douala’s CCC neighbourhood resulted in the death of a woman on Tuesday morning.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was hacked to death with a machete by her husband, who is currently in custody pending investigation.
According to local reports, the woman managed to flee her husband, running nearly 200 meters before collapsing at the entrance of a primary school. She had been screaming for help as her husband chased her. Neighbours rushed to the scene and witnessed the fatal attack, with one resident describing the husband lifting the machete and delivering the final blow.
The woman’s sister, who attempted to intervene, was also attacked but sustained injuries to her back. She recounted the chilling encounter, explaining that the suspect insisted on shaking her hand before raising the machete. She managed to block part of the blow with a table and urged her sister to run.
The couple had been together for 19 years and had three children. They reportedly separated in December 2025 after repeated incidents of violence.
The woman had been living in a nearby studio when the incident occurred.
Neighbours expressed shock, stating they had never witnessed such violence in the area.
