Afreximbank Launches Anthology: Unveiling Africa’s Emerging Literary Talent. This anthology, a collection of short stories from 19 up-and-coming writers across 16 countries, highlights the next generation of African and Caribbean storytelling.
The stories, originally written in Arabic, French, and Portuguese, have been meticulously translated into English, broadening their appeal to an international audience.
The anthology is the result of the 2024 CANEX Creative Writing Workshop, a program under Afreximbank’s Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) initiative, which seeks to identify and nurture new literary voices. Mrs. Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice President, Intra-African Trade and Export Development at Afreximbank, emphasized the strategic nature of this endeavor.
Officials commented on the matter. “Through initiatives like the CANEX Creative Writing Workshop, we’re not just nurturing talent but also building a pipeline of intellectual property that can cross borders and formats.”Narrative Landscape Press, an independent publisher based in Nairobi and Lagos, collaborated with Afreximbank on the project.
