MOGADISHU, Somalia — The National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) and the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) have embarked on a strategic initiative to train nearly 90 Somali journalists ahead of the upcoming local elections in the Benadir region.
The workshop, held in Mogadishu, aims to enhance media conduct and ensure ethical reporting standards during the critical election period.
Chairman of the NIEC, Mr. Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan, officially inaugurated the training, emphasizing the importance of objective and responsible reporting.
He assured the participants that the Electoral Commission is fully prepared to support the media professionals in their duties to inform the public effectively.
The Secretary General of NUSOJ, Mr. Omar Faruk Osman, highlighted the commitment of Somali journalists to cover the elections with integrity, accuracy, and impartiality.
