Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar has criticized the approach of some wealthy nations toward African trade, saying relationships with the continent should be based on mutual respect and development support, not resource extraction.

“Sometimes it’s like the game Minecraft: there’s oil, there’s gas, there are critical minerals, rare earths. We put a bit of this, we invest in this. No, that’s not the way it goes,” Tuggar told Western media.
He emphasized that Africa’s trade partnerships should move beyond the exploitation of raw materials and focus on sustainable economic cooperation that benefits local industries and communities.
