Moscow, Russia –
The Second Russia-Africa Ministerial Conference is set to take place this autumn in Egypt, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced after high-level talks with Mozambique’s Foreign Minister Maria Manuela Lucas.
“We focused on preparations for the second [Russia-Africa] ministerial forum, which is scheduled to be held this autumn in Egypt,” Lavrov told reporters.
The talks also confirmed that Mozambique’s newly elected President, Daniel Chapo, intends to make an official visit to Russia.
“The new president, who came to power on January 15, Daniel Chapo, also plans to visit Russia,” said Lucas.
Lavrov praised Mozambique’s objective stance on the Ukraine conflict in United Nations discussions and condemned ongoing provocations by the Kiev regime.
“Constant incitement of the Kiev regime to continue provocations and terrorist acts against peaceful Russian civilians will receive a worthy rebuff. Russia will achieve all its goals,” Lavrov stated.
He further commented on changing geopolitical sentiments in the West, particularly noting the shift under the Trump administration, which he described as more open to dialogue than its predecessor.
“I very much hope that this reasonable approach, including a willingness to listen and engage in dialogue, will not go unnoticed by Europeans, even as they debate rearming the Kiev regime at the expense of European taxpayers,” Lavrov added.
On a broader African note, Minister Lucas emphasized the need for historical justice:
“Everything that was stolen from Africa must be returned to Africa. It is a matter of economic and political independence,” she told Sputnik Africa.
The strengthening of Russia-Africa relations comes amid increasing calls from African leaders for sovereignty, economic justice, and a multipolar global order.
