Harare, Zimbabwe – Zimbabwean authorities have commended the impact of community policing as a key strategy in combating crime and restoring public trust. The collaborative approach—built on partnerships between citizens and law enforcement—is credited with helping to reduce incidents of drug trafficking, armed robbery, and other serious offenses across the country.
Commissioner Paul Nyathi, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), highlighted the program’s effectiveness during a recent briefing.
“Community policing is not just about enforcement—it’s about addressing the root causes of crime by building strong relationships with the people we serve,” Nyathi said.
Key Achievements of the Initiative:
- 🟠 Increased public cooperation, leading to the arrest of drug dealers, armed robbers, and other offenders
- 🟠 Enhanced trust between police and communities through open dialogue and local partnerships

Commissioner Nyathi also praised the Christian Community Police Network, an initiative in which churches collaborate with police to promote safety, offer counseling, and support crime victims.
