LIBREVILLE, Gabon — Gabon and China commemorated 52 years of diplomatic ties with a dinner event in Libreville on Monday, attended by Gabonese parliamentarians and members of the visiting Chinese parliamentary delegation. The gathering marked a significant milestone in the bilateral relationship, which has evolved from a technical cooperation agreement to a strategic global partnership since 1974.
During the meeting, Chinese parliamentarian Wu Weihua engaged in discussions with his Gabonese counterpart, emphasizing the mutual commitment to strengthening their bilateral partnership. Wu Weihua, who was received in audience by Gabonese counterpart S. E. Wu Weihua, highlighted the ongoing enhancement of the partnership.
Gabonese President Michel Régis Onanga M. Ndiaye underscored the evolution of the Sino-Gabonese partnership, noting its transition from technical cooperation to a strategic global partnership. President Onanga also discussed the necessity of reinforcing parliamentary cooperation, particularly in legal exchanges and technology transfer, such as the digitization of parliamentary work.
The event also provided an opportunity for the two nations to discuss ways to deepen their cooperation in various sectors, including technology and legal exchanges, aiming to further enhance their strategic partnership.
