In Somalia, recent weather observations indicate that the highest rainfall totals were recorded in Awdal and Waqooyi Galbeed in March 2026, with much of the country experiencing light to moderate rainfall. During the past week, rain was primarily observed in Gedo, Awdal, Waqooyi Galbeed, Bari, Nugaal, and Bakool, while central and coastal areas remained largely dry.
The Shabelle River remained low and stable, and the Juba River saw a brief rise before declining, both staying below flood risk levels. Light rainfall is anticipated over Gedo, Awdal, Waqooyi Galbeed, and northern Sanaag. For April, the outlook suggests above-normal rainfall over much of southern and central Somalia.
Very high temperatures, ranging from 35 to 40°C, are expected across central and southern Somalia.
The Shabelle and Juba River levels are forecasted to remain below flood risk thresholds during the forecast period.
