Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty at the Kremlin, where they engaged in discussions revolving around the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and the potential for economic cooperation between the two nations.
During the meeting, Putin expressed Russia’s readiness to contribute significantly to the stabilization of the Middle East region, stating, “We are ready to do everything in our power to help stabilize the situation in the region.”The Russian leader also directed his government to collaborate with Egypt on enhancing food supplies, emphasizing that Russia “absolutely no problems “with its harvest or future grain deliveries.
In recognition of Russia’s support, Abdelatty expressed gratitude for Russia’s backing on energy and food security matters. He highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in wheat and grain imports, which is a critical component of Egypt’s efforts to secure long-term grain supplies.
The Egyptian foreign minister further confirmed that Egypt intends to participate in the upcoming Russia — Africa Summit, scheduled for October. He expressed hope that by then, regional tensions would have eased, suggesting a strategic alignment between Egypt and Russia in the international arena.
The talks between Putin and Abdelatty come at a time when Moscow is actively seeking to strengthen its ties with key partners in the Middle East and Africa. The meeting underscores Russia’s desire to play a pivotal role in restoring a normal and stable situation in the region, while also addressing the pressing issue of food security for its African partners. Cairo, for its part, is looking to secure essential energy and grain supplies from Russia to support its domestic needs.
