In a collective display of environmental stewardship, the University des Sciences et Techniques de Masuku (USTM) community in Franceville, the capital of the Haut-Ogooué province in southeastern Gabon, came together for the second annual “Journée USTM Propre “on Saturday, April 11, 2026. This initiative, which translates to “USTM Clean Day, “is dedicated to the cleanliness and enhancement of the university environment. Students, faculty, and administrative staff joined forces to clean, beautify, and raise awareness about environmental preservation within the campus.
Under the guidance of USTM Rector Bill Raphaël Bikanda, participants engaged in a variety of activities aimed at improving the campus environment. These included the collection of waste, the removal of weeds from green spaces, and the restoration of frequently visited areas by the student body. The event’s organizers emphasized that the day’s purpose was twofold: not only to enhance the immediate environment for learners but also to instill a lasting culture of citizenship and ecology.
University authorities highlighted the significance of maintaining a healthy living environment conducive to learning and collective well — being. The “Journée USTM Propre “has now become a major annual event, reflecting the university’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility. In a region that values education and environmental conservation, this event stands as a testament to the USTM community’s dedication to both.
