Tanzania: Kanyigo Secondary School Emphasizes Academic Excellence and Moral Values in Enrollment Drive. Kanyigo, Tanzania — Parents and guardians in Tanzania, particularly in the Kagera Region, are being encouraged to enroll their children at Kanyigo Secondary School, a school renowned for its academic excellence and commitment to moral values.
The call to action was made by Retired Colonel Ngemela Lubinga, Chairperson of the Kanyigo and Kashenye Wards Development Association (KADEA), the school’s owner, during the Association’s General Meeting held on December 26, 2025.
According to Lubinga, Kanyigo Secondary School has achieved exceptional results in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) and the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). Out of 337 candidates, all recorded Division One, Two, and Three results, with no Division Four or Zero. This impressive performance places the school among the top-performing secondary institutions in the nation.
Lubinga emphasized that while academic excellence is commendable, it is equally important to nurture strong moral values both within and beyond the classroom. “When a community rallies around shared values, it prepares Tanzania’s youth to become responsible leaders, innovative thinkers, and self-reliant citizens capable of building the nation,” he. He cautioned against the glorification of material success without questioning its origins, arguing that unchecked admiration for wealth can normalize corruption.
“Corruption will persist unless we collectively stand firm and confront it,” he said urging parents and guardians to ask tough questions about how wealth is acquired. Dr. Daniel Ndagala, a KADEA member, suggested that former students of Kanyigo Secondary School establish an Alumni Association to contribute to modernizing the school’s infrastructure and enhancing its learning environment.
Twahiru Amrani appealed to the government to consider waiving taxes on private secondary schools, emphasizing that these institutions are partners in delivering essential educational services. Salim Mbazira, the Headmaster of Kanyigo Secondary School, reported that the school currently has 617 students, with ample capacity to accommodate more learners seeking a balanced education. “It takes a village to raise a child,” he said highlighting the school’s mission to provide an education where excellence meets values.
As the future looks promising for Tanzania’s next generation, the message to parents is clear: now is the time to invest in an education that combines academic rigor with moral discipline.
