Mogadishu, Somalia — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) of Somalia, in partnership with international security forces, has achieved a significant tactical victory by neutralizing two senior commanders of the Khawaarij network in targeted strikes across the Middle Juba and Lower Shabelle regions.
These precision operations, conducted on March 19 and March 15, were specifically designed to disrupt the leadership structure of the Khawaarij network, which has been pivotal in coordinating international terror activities and domestic suicide bombings.
The March 19 strike resulted in the elimination of Abdihamid Ali Abdullahi Maalim, a key figure who served as the primary conduit between the domestic Khawaarij group and international terrorist organizations. Maalim was instrumental in the procurement and smuggling of weapons and explosives into Somalia, thereby aiding the group’s asymmetric warfare against civilian and governmental targets.
In a previous operation on March 15, Suleyman Omar Fidow, known by various aliases, was neutralized. Fidow was the supreme commander of the Khawaarij suicide bomber units and had been poised to take over the leadership of the group’s explosives and indoctrination divisions after the death of the former explosives chief, Engineer Ismail.
These strategic eliminations reflect the Somali Federal Government’s determined offensive to dismantle the command hierarchy of terrorist networks within the country. By consistently removing seasoned tacticians and logistical coordinators, NISA and its international allies are aimed at dismantling the command-and-control structure of the militants.
The national security forces remain fully engaged in exploiting these leadership vacuums to maintain an aggressive offensive stance and accelerate the stabilization of the affected regions.
