In a surprising turn of events, the Ndimande brothers, Siyabonga and Malusi, who are implicated in the tragic murder of rapper AKA and celebrity chef Tibz, have withdrawn their bail application. The brothers faced the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where they made a brief appearance. In a sudden reversal, they decided to continue their detention rather than seek release.
The postponement of the case to 17 April has been scheduled, during which time the brothers will be served with indictments. They will then join the other five murder accused, who are anticipated to stand trial within the year. The Ndimande brothers were extradited from Eswatini in November, following a protracted legal battle. Their initial attempt to challenge the extradition was abandoned, paving the way for their current legal proceedings.
The tragic incident that has captivated the nation occurred outside the now — defunct Wish restaurant in Durban in February 2023, where AKA and Tibz were gunned down. The case has since sparked a significant public interest, with the Ndimande brothers’legal saga now taking a new chapter.
