In a harrowing incident, bandits have abducted seven family members and three residents in Unguwar Sabon — Titi along Katari-Hayin Dam in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna state. The attack, confirmed by a resident of Katari, Mr Markus Yakubu, took place on Friday morning. The bandits, equipped with sophisticated weapons, invaded a compound and abducted the victims from a neighboring house as well.
Mr Yakubu described the scene, explaining that the bandits operated quietly without firing shots, but began releasing bullets after moving the victims out of the town. “The bandits came in a large number and surrounded my neighbor’s house before some of them entered the compound and whisked away people, who are all members of one family. They later proceeded to the next house and carried three people, “he recounted.
He also noted that the bandits were unable to shoot due to the proximity of the house they attacked to the Katari DPO’s residence. The names of the abducted individuals were provided as Jummai Amos, Barnabas Amos, Iko Amos, Baby Amos, Eunice Amos, Eshiwan Amos, and Godwin Amos, along with Bagudu Damisa, Evelyn Damisa, and Alfred Iriyo, the three other neighbors taken.
A community leader, who preferred to remain anonymous, also confirmed the abduction, stating that he received a distress call from a resident and attempted to contact security operatives but was unable to reach them. “The very moment I received the call that bandits had invaded two houses at Unguwar Sabon-Titi, I quickly tried to reach out to security operatives but their numbers are not connecting, “he.
On Friday morning, neighbors were seen trooping into the houses to offer their sympathies to the families of the abducted victims. A security source from the area confirmed the abduction, noting that security operatives were combing the forest in search of the bandits to rescue the victims alive. The spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, DSP Hassan Mansur, did not respond to calls or text messages sent to his phone regarding the latest abduction.
