RSF Drone Attack Kills 24 in Central Sudan, Doctors Group Reports. Khartoum, Sudan — A drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group in central Sudan has resulted in the deaths of at least 24 people, including eight children, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.
The incident occurred on a vehicle carrying displaced families near the city of Er Rahad in North Kordofan province, as they were fleeing ongoing fighting in the Dubeiker area.
The Sudan Doctors Network reported that the attack took place as the displaced families were being transported out of the conflict zone. Among the deceased children were two infants.
The injured were taken to Er Rahad, which is experiencing severe shortages of medical supplies, similar to many areas in the Kordofan region.
The doctors’ group has called on the international community and rights organizations to take immediate action to protect civilians and hold the RSF leadership directly accountable for the violations.
The RSF, which has been engaged in a conflict with the Sudanese military for control of the country since April 2023, has been accused of targeting humanitarian operations and civilians in the region. Sudan has been embroiled in a civil war since April 2023, with the RSF, led by General Hamid Dagalo, clashing with the Sudanese Armed Forces.
The conflict has led to significant displacement of the population, with millions facing acute hunger and humanitarian crises.
The attack on Saturday follows a series of drone strikes on humanitarian aid convoys and fuel trucks across North Kordofan.
On Friday, a drone strike on a World Food Programme (WFP) aid convoy in North Kordofan province killed at least one person and wounded several others.
The convoy was heading to deliver life — saving food assistance to displaced people in the city of El Obeid when it was struck. Emergency Lawyers, an independent group documenting atrocities in Sudan, blamed the RSF for the attack.
The Sudan Doctors Network called it a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law “that amounts to a war crime.
International condemnation has been swift, with Massad Boulos, a US adviser for African and Arab affairs, calling for accountability for those responsible. “Destroying food intended for people in need and killing humanitarian workers is sickening, “he. “
The Trump administration has zero tolerance for this destruction of life and of US — funded assistance; we demand accountability.”.
Further details are expected as the situation unfolds.
