April 6th, 2026 — Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has commenced a food aid distribution program in Sudan, targeting poor and affected families in three states. The program, a collaborative effort with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS), was launched with a ceremony in Port Sudan, attended by the Ambassador of Qatar to Sudan, Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al-Sada, and other dignitaries.
At the ceremony, Dr. Salah Al-Din Daak, head of QRCS’s Sudan office, revealed the distribution plan, which includes 8,875 food parcels. These parcels will be distributed across North Kordofan, River Nile, and White Nile states, with 5,000, 1,000, and 2,875 parcels respectively.
Dr. Daak noted that this aid reflects Qatar’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and enhancing food security in Sudan.
Ahmed Al — Tayeb Suleiman, SRCS Secretary-General, praised Qatar’s ongoing humanitarian efforts. He assured that SRCS chapters and volunteers are prepared to distribute the aid effectively and transparently, ensuring that it reaches those in need promptly.
This distribution is part of QRCS’s broader humanitarian initiatives in Sudan, which aim to support the Sudanese people during the ongoing humanitarian crisis. QRCS is currently fundraising to provide 8,442 food parcels to 50,652 beneficiaries, each parcel costing QR 385. Donations can be made through various channels, including QRCS’s website, mobile app, and donation boxes.
