Libreville, Gabon — February 12, 2026 (AGP) – The Port of Bois has set the modernization of its facilities, the enhancement of security measures, and the optimization of logistics flows as its top priorities for 2026, following a meeting led by its director, Adjembimande Sajoux Alain Pierre, on Thursday.
The meeting, which focused on the review of 2025 activities and future development prospects, was informed by the Gabonese Press Agency through a communication from the Gabon Ports and Harbors Office (OPRAG). During the meeting, performance achievements were assessed, potential areas for optimization identified, and future actions planned.
Discussions focused on modernizing infrastructure for barge reception, particularly for manganese arrivals from Kango and cement shipments to Kinguélé, which support the construction of the hydroelectric dam and the supply of Port-Gentil residents.
The delineation and development of the port area were also highlighted to increase storage capacities and improve logistics organization. Security reinforcement at the site was a key point, emphasizing rigorous control of goods in transit while adhering to the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and international safety standards.
The director commended the dedication and mobilization of staff, urging them to maintain a culture of excellence by consolidating achievements and anticipating future challenges.
The Port of Bois holds a strategic position in the country’s industrial and energy landscape.
In September 2025, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of the Republic, Head of State, and Government, laid the foundation stone for a future 220 MW gas-fired power plant at the site, a major project aimed at strengthening the country’s energy sovereignty and supporting industrial development.
Further details are expected as the Port of Bois continues its development initiatives.
The director’s emphasis on modernization, security, and efficiency underscores the port’s commitment to serving as a crucial hub for Gabon’s economic growth.
