Accra, Ghana –
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ghana this evening as part of his multi-nation tour, describing the West African country as a “valued friend in Africa and a key partner in the Global South.”
PM Modi was warmly received by President John Dramani Mahama, with both leaders expressing optimism about deepening bilateral relations and exploring new areas of cooperation.
During the visit, Modi is scheduled to:
🟢 Hold high-level talks with President Mahama to boost ties across trade, technology, agriculture, education, and health;
🟢 Address the Ghanaian Parliament on Thursday, where he is expected to outline India’s Africa policy and shared development goals.
This visit forms part of PM Modi’s broader diplomatic tour, which includes official engagements in Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, aiming to strengthen India’s global partnerships and foster collaboration across the Global South.
“We are working with world leaders to make our planet better,” Modi said ahead of his departure from India.
India and Ghana share a long history of diplomatic and economic cooperation, with growing engagement in sectors such as infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and capacity building under South–South collaboration frameworks.
