BUEA, Cameroon — Prime Minister Dion Ngute Inaugurates Cameroon’s First “Intelligent Classroom” BUEA, Cameroon — The Prime Minister of Cameroon, Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, today marked a significant milestone in the nation’s educational sector by inaugurating the first “Intelligent Classroom” at Lycée General Leclerc in Yaoundé. This innovative learning environment is a collaborative effort between the Cameroonian government and the Commonwealth of Nations, facilitated by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and Promethean.
The Intelligent Classroom is designed to revolutionize teaching methods and empower students with 21st-century skills, according to Prime Minister Ngute. Speaking at the ceremony, he highlighted the project as a manifestation of President Paul Biya’s vision to transform ideas into practical outcomes. “The Intelligent Classroom represents a new generation of learning infrastructure aimed at modernizing teaching and preparing students for the digital age,” Ngute.
The classroom is equipped with advanced technology and is adaptable to various locations, even those without consistent internet or electricity. This feature makes it a feasible option for expanding digital education across the country.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, Lord Jonathan Peter Marland, government officials, international partners, and education stakeholders.
The launch is part of a broader digitization project for secondary education in Cameroon, aiming to align the system with global technological standards. Plans are already in motion to introduce similar classrooms in other schools, signaling a new era in Cameroon’s educational transformation. Further details regarding the expansion and implementation of the Intelligent Classroom model are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
