Rabat, Morocco — Nexus Core Systems is partnering with international entities to establish a cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) data center in the outskirts of Casablanca, Morocco. This ambitious $1.2 billion project is a significant milestone in Morocco’s pursuit of advanced digital infrastructure and its aspirations to be a regional technology leader.
The data center, designed for a 500-megawatt capacity, will be powered entirely by renewable energy sourced from TAQA Morocco. Naver Cloud is set to manage the facility, while NVIDIA will equip it with advanced processors, including the Blackwell GB200 GPUs, pivotal for AI operations. Lloyds Capital is backing the venture, fostering an international alliance that spans technology, energy, and finance.
Slated for completion in early 2026, the project initially planned a 40 MW phase but has encountered minor delays. Despite this, it remains a crucial component of Morocco’s strategy to host large-scale AI infrastructure and become a regional technology hub.
The Nouaceur location was chosen for its strategic proximity to Europe and direct access to multiple submarine fiber — optic cables, vital for high-speed data transfer. In alignment with this strategy, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council has approved the allocation of 666 hectares for major industrial projects, including the AI data center. Furthermore, an industrial acceleration zone in Ouled Saleh, covering 476 hectares, was inaugurated to cater to advanced technologies, reflecting Morocco’s intent to attract international digital investment.
This project signifies more than infrastructure; it represents Morocco’s broader vision to be a key player in the global AI-driven economy. Through strategic partnerships and proactive territorial planning, the Kingdom is poised to transform its technological landscape and aims to become a leading African technology hub by 2030, with AI and digital innovation at its core.
