Kampala, Uganda — MTN Uganda’s annual revenue climbed to USD 972 million in 2025, lifted by rising demand for mobile data and fintech services, according to local reports. Official statements indicate that data traffic and digital-payment volumes offset stepped-up regulatory requirements imposed during the year.
The company’s filings show the top-line figure advancing from prior levels, though exact prior-year numbers were not disclosed.
Sources close to the matter said expanding 4G coverage and bundled data offers pushed smartphone users to consume more gigabytes, while MoMoPay and other financial platforms recorded higher transaction counts. Regional officials confirmed that the Uganda Communications Commission introduced new SIM-registration rules and fee caps, yet subscriber uptake stayed positive.
Independent observers say the result signals continued appetite for digital services despite price competition and macroeconomic pressures.
The government has not yet commented on whether additional policy changes are planned for the telecom sector. Further details are expected when MTN Uganda releases its full audited statements next month.
