Rabat, Morocco — On April 8th, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and Royale Marocaine d’Assurance (RMA) formalized a groundbreaking memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Casablanca. This strategic partnership aims to integrate innovation and talent development into Morocco’s insurance sector, fostering a practical approach to academic research and industry needs.
The agreement outlines a collaborative framework designed to bridge the gap between theory and practical application. At the heart of this collaboration is an InsurTech program led by UM6P’s Open Innovation Hub. The program is focused on identifying startups with technologies that align with RMA’s strategic priorities and facilitating direct interaction with RMA’s teams for rapid development and testing of solutions.
In addition to technological innovation, the partnership emphasizes educational initiatives. Students and young professionals will have access to mentorship, internships, and practical projects, particularly in artificial intelligence, to ensure they are well-equipped for the evolving insurance industry.
This alliance is part of a larger trend in Morocco where institutions and private sectors are working together to embed innovation within specific economic sectors. By fostering closer relationships between universities, companies, and startups, Morocco seeks to establish an ecosystem that drives practical solutions, strengthens local expertise, and positions the nation as a leading hub for technology-driven industries in Africa.
