Casablanca, Morocco — Morocco has taken a significant stride in the financial technology sector with the launch of the country’s first fully digital business account for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This initiative, a collaboration between Visa and Moroccan fintech Zazu, aims to revolutionize the banking experience for SMEs by offering a streamlined and efficient account opening process.
The new digital account service has been operational for over 300 professional accounts before its official public unveiling. Early adopters include Jobzyn, Auto24, Yakeey, and Votre Chauffeur. Ma. The service’s rollout is a result of a strategic partnership among Visa, Zazu, and Chari, a Moroccan fintech infrastructure provider, which provides the necessary technological infrastructure, payment license access, and local market expertise.
Zazu’s platform, integrated into a single app, is designed to facilitate day-to-day financial management for SMEs. Key features include an integrated invoicing system, payment links for quicker collections, and real-time expense tracking with customizable team roles and permissions. The introduction of Visa Business cards for teams is also planned in the near future.
Zazu’s co-founder, Germain Bahri, acknowledged the need for a more efficient banking solution in Morocco, where opening a professional account traditionally involves complex procedures and delays. The platform aims to eliminate these challenges by providing a transparent and user-friendly experience.
Established in 2024, Zazu has expanded its operations from South Africa to Morocco, marking the next step in its pan-African expansion. The company has secured backing from prominent investors and Moroccan tech ecosystem figures, reflecting the growing confidence in the country’s fintech sector.
The partnership was announced at GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech, underscoring Morocco’s commitment to becoming a leading francophone tech hub in North Africa. This innovative digital banking solution is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s digital transformation efforts.
