Agadir, Morocco — The Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) has officially received its second batch of AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters from Boeing, further bolstering its military capabilities and operational readiness. This delivery is part of a government-to-government acquisition program between Morocco and the United States, following the initial shipment of six Apache helicopters in March 2025.
The RMAF’s acquisition of the Apache Guardians aligns with Morocco’s strategic goal to modernize its military forces and enhance its defense infrastructure. This initiative also underscores the strengthening of Morocco’s defense partnership with the US. The helicopters are part of a 2020 agreement with the US Defense Department for a total of 24 AH-64Es, with an option for an additional 12 units, valued at approximately $1.5 billion.
The AH — 64E Apache Guardian is a highly advanced attack helicopter, known for its combination of powerful weaponry and advanced electronics. Equipped with a 30mm M230 chain gun for precision strikes and AGM-114 Hellfire missiles for standoff attacks against armored targets, the Apache Guardian provides Morocco with a versatile combat capability. It is also armed with Hydra 70 rockets and other guided or unguided munitions.
The Apache Guardian’s AN/APG-78 Longbow Fire Control Radar provides the ability to engage multiple targets simultaneously and guide Hellfire missiles in real-time, even under challenging weather or complex terrain. This capability significantly enhances the RMAF’s close air support and strike capabilities, placing Morocco among the most capable rotary-wing attack forces in North Africa.
