Somali Security Forces Eliminate Key Terror Leaders in Targeted Strike. MOGADISHU, Somalia — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) of Somalia, in collaboration with international security partners, has announced the successful elimination of key terror leaders in a targeted strike.
The operation, which took place on December 10 in the Jilib district of the Middle Jubba region, resulted in the deaths of Abdullahi Osman Mohamed, alias “Engineer Ismail,” and Abdikarim Mohamed Hersi, known as “Qoorleex.
” Engineer Ismail was identified as the mastermind behind the October 14 truck bombing in Mogadishu, as well as numerous other attacks that have caused loss of life and destruction in Somalia. His role as the chief architect of the explosives department, and his command over the “Amniyat” intelligence wing and the Al-Kataib media unit, made him a high-value target with a five-million-dollar bounty on his head.
Hersi, a prominent figure within the terror group’s propaganda apparatus, was responsible for managing misinformation and radicalization campaigns in the Jubba regions.
His neutralization is expected to disrupt the group’s ability to disseminate extremist messaging and coordinate operations.
The Federal Government described the mission as a highly sophisticated and successful targeted strike. By eliminating these senior commanders, the security forces have dismantled a critical node in the terror network’s infrastructure, removing an imminent threat to the safety and security of the Somali nation.
Regional officials confirmed that the operation was executed with precision, effectively neutralizing the two senior leaders without causing any collateral damage.
Further details regarding the operation and the aftermath are expected to be released in the coming days.
