LIBREVILLE, Gabon — March 31, 2026 (AGP) – The First Instance Court in Libreville has declared itself incompetent to resolve the dispute between the Gabonese Football Federation and candidate Dr. Axel Nguema, recommending that the plaintiff seek jurisdiction elsewhere, an authorized source revealed to the Gabonese Press Agency. Despite no official notification having been released, the result of the court’s decision is already known to the parties.
The Libreville court advised the plaintiff, who is alleging irregularities in the electoral process for the upcoming April 18th vote, to turn to specialized courts for resolution. “We will receive the notification tomorrow (Wednesday), but be aware that they have referred us to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS), “Dr. Axel Nguema confirmed.
The court’s recommendation comes as no surprise to those following the case, which has been mired in controversy over the electoral process. Dr. Nguema’s allegations of irregularities have added a layer of uncertainty to the upcoming football federation elections.
