NTOUM, 7 avril 2026 (AGP) – Jean Nicaise Émane, a journalist with the private Gabonese television channel TV+, was killed in a traffic accident in Ntoum, Estuaire region, on the night of Monday, according to the Gabonese Press Agency, citing family sources. The accident occurred around 7 pm as Émane was on his way to dispose of household waste. He was struck violently by a vehicle traveling at high speed, painted like a Libreville taxi.
Witnesses at the scene promptly transported the victim to Ntoum’s health center. However, due to the severity of his injuries, the medical staff, overwhelmed by the situation, decided to evacuate Émane to the University Hospital of Owendo (CHUO) in Libreville. Unfortunately, the journalist died before reaching the hospital, with his death being confirmed shortly after his admission.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, which resulted in the death of a media professional. The local community and Émane’s colleagues are in shock over the sudden loss, while the deceased’s family continues to grapple with this unexpected tragedy.
