Libreville, Gabon — 3 March 2026 (AGP) – The Gabonese Minister of Mines and Geological Resources, Sosthène Nguema Nguema, engaged in discussions with investors and financiers from the extractive sector during the PDAC (Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada) convention in Toronto, Canada. Among the stakeholders was SCP Resource Finance, which expressed interest in the mining opportunities available in Gabon, according to the Gabonese Press Agency. During the meeting, Minister Nguema highlighted Gabon’s strengths as the world’s second-largest producer of manganese and its underexplored resources in rare earths, uranium, potassium, gold, and iron.
He emphasized that nearly 70% of identified deposits remain untapped, positioning Gabon as a significant investment opportunity in a stable and secure environment in Central Africa.
The Gabonese official also discussed the attractiveness of the country’s mining code, which guarantees human rights respect and legal security for investments, aiming to reassure international partners in a highly competitive global market for strategic minerals. David Wargo, the General Manager of SCP Resource Finance, expressed his organization’s interest in mobilizing financing for mining projects in Gabon.
He emphasized the need for clearly defined and structured projects, aligning with the Gabonese government’s strategy to attract new investors and promote the nation’s mining potential on the international stage.
The discussions follow a broader effort by the Gabonese authorities to foster investment in the mining sector, leveraging the country’s abundant natural resources to stimulate economic growth and development. Further details are expected as the negotiations progress, with the potential for significant investment in Gabon’s mining industry.
