Libreville, Gabon — On Wednesday, the Gabonese National Assembly concluded the election of leadership for its eight permanent general commissions during a plenary session presided over by Vice President Eloi Nzondo, as reported by the Agence gabonaise de presse.
The elections, which allocated 36 posts among four parliamentary groups, saw the ruling Union Démocratique des Bâtisseurs (UDB) emerge as the dominant force, securing 24 posts, or 66. 66% of the total. The Parti Démocratique Gabonais (PDG), the former ruling party, secured 5 posts (13.
88%), followed by the Union des Forces Républicaines Indépendantes (UFRI) with 4 posts (11. 11%) and the Forces Patriotiques (FP) with 3 posts (8. 33%).
Among the elected commission presidents were Brice Constant Paillat (UDB) of the Law, Administrative Affairs, and Human Rights Commission, and Nicole Jeanine Lydie Roboty épouse Mbou (PDG) of the Finance, Budget, and Public Accounts Commission. The commissions also include the Foreign Affairs, Health, Education, Social Affairs, and Cultural Commission, among others.
The establishment of these bureaus complies with the internal regulations of the National Assembly, which outline the functioning and organization of the institution. The assembly’s adoption of electronic voting has also contributed to the swift and efficient release of election results.
