FRANCEVILLE, Gabon — In preparation for the upcoming General Population and Housing Census (RGPL) in Gabon’s Haut-Ogooué province, a Department of Planning team has embarked on a sensitization tour across Franceville, the province’s capital. The initiative, which began on Friday, involves informing residents about the census process and ensuring collective households are prepared.
The team, led by Noëlle Obounou Abeghe, has visited key sites including the University Hospital Center Amissa Bongo, the central prison, the university campus, and the Hosanna orphanage. Abeghe emphasized the census’s importance for all residents, explaining that the enumeration process will soon involve these collective households.

The RGPL is a vital exercise for the Gabonese government, providing essential data for planning and development. The census is expected to cover the entire country, ensuring comprehensive data collection. Further details regarding the census schedule and procedures are anticipated to be released shortly.
