Gabon: Raymond Ndong Sima Appointed as AGROPAG President. LIBREVILLE, Gabon — 27 February 2026 (AGP) – Raymond Ndong Sima, the former Prime Minister of Gabon during the Transition period, has been appointed as the President of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Société Agropastorale du Gabon (AGROPAG), according to official sources.
The appointment, which took place during the Council of Ministers meeting on 26 February, coincides with AGROPAG becoming a key instrument in the country’s agricultural strategy following the dissolution of the Société d’Agriculture et d’Élevage du Gabon (SAEG).
This move places Raymond Ndong Sima at the forefront of efforts to strengthen food security and structure agricultural sectors.
As an ex — minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development from 2009 to 2012, Sima is well-versed in the sector. His experience in rural development and the modernization of productive chains is a significant factor in his return to leading a strategic body.
Born on January 23, 1955, in Oyem, Sima is an economist educated at Paris-Dauphine and Harvard.
He served as Prime Minister from 2012 to 2014 under Ali Bongo Ondimba, and as Prime Minister of the Transition from 2023 to 2025 under General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. His career has been characterized by a back-and-forth between governmental responsibilities and political engagements.
After being a member of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), from which he distanced himself in 2015, he is now associated with the Alliance Patriotique, a formation that emerged during the transition period.
With this appointment, Sima reinforces his presence in the decision — making sphere and his role in restructuring the agricultural sector, which is considered crucial for the country’s food sovereignty.
The nomination comes as AGROPAG assumes a pivotal role in the nation’s agricultural strategy.
