Gabon’s PDG Announces Upcoming Ordinary Congress for Reform. LIBREVILLE, Gabon — March 12, 2026 (AGP) – The Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), a former ruling party, is preparing for a significant transformation with the announcement of an upcoming ordinary congress.
The event, which is set to take place amidst celebrations of the party’s 58th anniversary, marks a strategic move toward reform, according to the Gabonese Press Agency.
The secretary general of the PDG, Anglelique Ngoma, and the party’s president, Blaise Louembé, made the announcement during a gathering in Libreville. Louembé described the congress as “refondateur, “emphasizing the party’s intention to evolve its methods by learning from past experiences. He clarified that the change does not entail erasing the past but rather moving forward without being束缚 by it.
Louembé also highlighted the PDG’s pivotal role in the nation’s development, aiming for a reconstructed party.
In the lead — up to the congress, the PDG plans to hold a seminar for the restitution of works and conclusions from a special ad hoc commission.
The commission is led by Julien Nkoghe Bekale, a member of the party’s permanent committee.
Ngoma and Louembé took the opportunity to commend all party members who participated in recent elections, particularly those elected to Parliament and local councils.
