Gabon/Nyanga/RGPL: Communication Team Completes Mission in Tchibanga and Gamba. TCHIBANGA, Gabon — 17 March 2026 (AGP) – The communication team of the Central Bureau of the Population and Housing Census (BCR) concluded its mission in Tchibanga and Gamba on Tuesday, following the completion of the General Population and Housing Census (RGPL) operations in the region, reports the Gabonese Press Agency.
The mission, which arrived in the region on March 7, was led by Christelle Azizet, with Mexant Nzé Edzidzié as her assistant.
The team aimed to evaluate the conduct of the census operations and the working conditions of enumerators on the ground.
According to the mission head, the operations took place largely in a peaceful manner, although challenges were encountered. During the national communication and sensitization campaign for the RGPL, the team was tasked with monitoring the activities of the teams in the Nyanga province and the Ndougou department.
They noted difficulties faced by team leaders and enumerators, but also expressed satisfaction with the overall peaceful conduct of the operations.
Citizens engaged with the team expressed the importance of the census and hoped for positive outcomes.
However, some remained hesitant, associating the census with political motives.
Enumerators reported facing several difficulties in counting areas, complicating their tasks. At Gamba, team leader Alex Shara Moutsinga highlighted some misunderstandings, particularly among residents with multiple residences who were unsure of their enumeration location.
These challenges underscore the need for enhanced sensitization and support for populations to ensure the smooth conduct of the RGPL in the province.
Further details are expected as the census process continues in Gabon.
