Gabon: Microfinance Institutions Strengthen Performance in Q3 2025 LIBREVILLE, Gabon — The microfinance sector in Gabon has experienced a significant improvement in performance during the third quarter of 2025, as indicated by the Sectorial Economic Outlook for Q3 2025, published by the General Directorate of Economy and Fiscal Policy (DGEPF), reports the Gabonese Press Agency.
In a year — on-year comparison, the index of capital reserves has shown a robust increase of 7. 8 percent, following a surge of 24 percent in the previous quarter.
This growth can be attributed to the recapitalization of two major players in the sector.
Additionally, the indicators of intermediation have demonstrated a notable improvement in deposits, with the quarterly deposit index rising by 4. 4 percent after a 6.
1 percent increase in June 2025.
For the first nine months of the year, the cumulative growth stands at 14. 6 percent, and 17 percent for the full year.
The index of credits extended to customers also saw an increase of 5. 5 percent, reversing a decline of 1. 9 percent in the preceding quarter.
Over the first nine months, the cumulative growth in credit extended was 9. 3 percent.
The customer portfolio has grown by 10.
4 percent over the first nine months, despite a slight decline of 0. 4 percent in the third quarter of 2025.
Annually, the customer index has appreciated by 11.
5 percent.
In terms of employment, the sector has seen a 4. 2 percent rebound in staffing during the quarter, driven by new recruitments in agency branches, following a 3.
4 percent recovery in the previous quarter.
The network coverage of Microfinance Establishments (EMF) has also improved by 1. 7 percent during the review period, with an annual growth of 6.
5 percent.
