Gabon: Oil Minister Assures Stable Petroleum Supply Amid Shortages. LIBREVILLE, Gabon — The Gabonese Minister of Petroleum and Gas, Clotaire Kondja, has assured the public of the government’s commitment to restoring normalcy to the country’s petroleum supply chain, following recent disruptions.
In a statement to the Gabonese Press Agency (AGP), Kondja attributed the shortages to an exceptional surge in consumption during the festive season.
The minister’s comments came after a crisis meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters, where stakeholders in the downstream oil and gas sector were present.
The meeting aimed to address the temporary tensions in the supply chain caused by the increased demand. To alleviate the situation, Kondja directed marketers and the Gabonese Petroleum Storage Company (SGEPP) to enhance production capabilities, ensure continuous supply, and improve distribution across the national territory.
According to the minister, the government is dedicated to guaranteeing the availability of petroleum products and to resolving the current disruptions as swiftly as possible. Clotaire Kondja’s reassurance comes as a relief to the public, who have been experiencing difficulties in obtaining essential petroleum products, particularly in the Grand Libreville area. Regional officials confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored, and further details are expected to be released as they become available.
For now, the government remains focused on restoring stability to the supply chain and ensuring that the needs of the population are met.
