Gabon and Brazil Strengthen Judicial Cooperation. LIBREVILLE, Gabon — 2 February 2026 (AGP) – The Gabonese Ministry of Justice has recently welcomed the Brazilian ambassador to Gabon, Miguel Griesbach De Pereira Franco, for discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral judicial cooperation.
The meeting, which took place on Monday, focused on opportunities to deepen their partnership in the judicial sector.
According to a ministry press release, the discussions centered on the establishment of a more structured and effective collaboration between the Gabonese capital, Libreville, and Brazil’s capital, Brasília.
The Brazilian ambassador expressed his country’s willingness to support Gabon, requesting detailed information on Gabon’s judicial needs for short, medium, and long-term development. This information will help in providing a multifaceted technical support that aligns with Gabon’s justice vision.
One key area of interest highlighted during the meeting was the implementation of an emergency hotline to combat child abductions, so — called “blood crimes,” and corruption.
This hotline, already operational in Brazil, has been instrumental in significantly reducing such phenomena, according to Brazilian authorities. Minister of Justice, Professor Augustin Émane, showed keen interest in Brazil’s public liberties implementation and guarantee mechanisms.
Both the Gabonese and Brazilian representatives agreed to work closely together to strengthen judicial cooperation.
The meeting follows a growing trend of international collaboration in legal matters, reflecting the global nature of legal challenges and the need for cross — border cooperation. Further details are expected to emerge as the two countries continue their dialogue on judicial reforms and mutual support initiatives.
