Gabon’s GIA Pitches Aviculture Development Projects to Ministry. LIBREVILLE, Gabon — 17 December 2025 (AGP) – The Gabonese Group of Avicultural Interest (GIA) has presented its development plans to the Ministry of Agriculture, reports have indicated.
The meeting was facilitated by Mark — Alexandre Doumba, the interim Minister of Agriculture, who was represented by the Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization, and Innovation.
With over 50 years of experience and commanding nearly 20% of the national market, the GIA aims to become the leading producer of chicken meat in Gabon.
The organization plans to introduce market — ready products under the “Les Volailles du Gabon “label, featuring both standard and free-range chicken options. To achieve this, the GIA intends to leverage international best practices, emphasizing stringent biosecurity, impeccable quality, and the use of locally sourced raw materials.
During the discussion, GIA President Denis Ovono Mezui outlined the association’s activities and its aspirations to bolster the national supply of poultry products.
In response, interim Minister Doumba emphasized the importance of the GIA’s production capacity, especially as the holiday season approaches. He encouraged continued efforts and reiterated the State’s support for initiatives aimed at strengthening national agricultural production and food sovereignty.
