On Tuesday, former tax inspector Bassirou Diomaye Faye was inaugurated as Senegal’s fifth head of state. He took the oath at the Abdou Diouf International Center in the Senegalese town of Diamniadio.

Oil, gas, and mining sector audits were announced by Senegal’s newly elected President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

“The exploitation of our natural resources, which according to the constitution belong to the people, will receive particular attention from my government,” he told the nation in a televised address.

The president also underlined that investors are “welcome in Senegal.”
