In the bustling city of Casablanca, Morocco’s burgeoning auto market is witnessing a dynamic shift. While compact and practical models continue to dominate sales, there’s a burgeoning interest in larger electrified SUVs, creating a unique opportunity for EXEED’s VX PHEV to carve out its niche. The timing couldn’t be more strategic as Morocco’s automobile market soared by a record 33% in 2025, with total sales hitting 235,372 units—a significant leap from the previous year’s 176,401 units, as reported by the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).
Despite this growth, Moroccan consumers are showing a distinct preference for compact sedans, hatchbacks, and practical crossovers. The Dacia Logan, Dacia Sandero, Renault Express, Renault Clio, and Dacia Duster topped the sales charts in 2025, reflecting a market that values competitive pricing, low running costs, and strong resale value. Larger seven-seat SUVs, however, remain a niche segment, primarily catering to bigger households, upper-income buyers, and professional use.
M-AUTOMOTIV, recognizing this trend, plans to introduce EXEED’s VX PHEV into this niche market. The model, which aims to differentiate itself from the high-volume city cars and compact crossovers, is targeted at a premium family-SUV segment. According to the company’s press release, the VX PHEV boasts seven seats, all-wheel drive, a combined 503 horsepower, 745 Nm of torque, and a claimed range of up to 1,218 kilometers. The vehicle is equipped with luxury features such as leather seating, climate and massage functions for front passengers, heated rear rows, a panoramic roof, advanced camera visibility tools, multiple driving modes, and over 20 driver-assistance systems.
This strategic move aligns with the growing trend of Chinese automakers in Morocco. Last year, 17 Chinese brands were active in the country, accounting for about one-third of all marques present. Among these, BYD has emerged as the leading Chinese name in Morocco’s electrified segment, followed by Geely, Changan, and Chery.
Brands like Great Wall Motor and Soueast are also making their mark, with Soueast reaching 14th place in Morocco’s January 2026 passenger-car brand rankings, boasting a 1. 7% share shortly after entering the market.
EXEED’s entry into the Moroccan market, with its VX PHEV, represents a bet on the future. While mainstream buyers still prefer compact, value-driven cars, there’s a gradual shift towards electrified SUVs with more space, stronger performance, and higher-end comfort. For now, the VX PHEV seems to be less of a mass-market play and more of an anticipation of where Morocco’s auto demand may be heading.
